THE garden at Hawker Park Primary School has received some extra attention.

The Warwick school recently received a Bankwest grant of $400, which teacher Codi Beatty said would ensure the garden was “well fed and watered all year round”.

“We were also able to buy some new plants for the garden,” she said.

As part of receiving the grant, some of the years 1 and 2 students also took part in filming a new television advert, which aired this month.

“It was great as the children had the chance to see what is involved in the production of an advert,” Ms Beatty said.

“The children’s efforts in planting and sustaining the garden shines through in the advert and now it has started to be shown on TV they have a new appreciation for the garden and can look back on how much it has grown in such a short amount of time.”
