Acting Superintendent Gary Lewis said schools were a soft target for criminals who could break-in without the concerns that come with home burglaries where there is risk that residents could catch them.
Supt Lewis said while it was not a dramatic rise in burglaries, residents needed to be wary.
Anyone who spots anyone suspicious on school grounds, please report to police, he said.
People are not meant to be hanging around school buildings after hours.
He said police had responded to recent cases in Joondalup, Clarkson and Warwick.
