Hindu celebration

Tyler BrownWanneroo Times

ABOUT 100 people took part in an All World Gayatri Pariwar Perth event in Girrawheen on June 27 to celebrate Gayatri Jayanti.

Gayatri is the Hindu goddess of righteous intellect.

As part of the event, AWGP Perth performed a holy fire ritual followed by MahaPrasad (a sacred blessed meal).

The ritual is to slay negativity by bringing together heat from the fire and the sound of the chanting to achieve physical, psychological and spiritual benefits.

Shri Nirav Vaidya guided people through the two-hour spiritual part of the event held at the Girrawheen Koondoola Senior Citizens Centre.
