Past and present members gathered at the heritage-listed clubhouse of Yanchep Golf Club in Yanchep National Park to mark the clubs 50th anniversary on May 31.

About 36 people played a round of golf while others enjoyed morning tea and browsed through four photo albums brought by life member Margaret Cockman.

Also life members, Wanneroo Deputy Mayor Dot Newton said husband Derek had been president, captain and champion of the club during his more regular golfing days.

Derek and I joined in 1981 and we played there for about 20 years through the 80s and early 90s we were always up there, she said.

Cr Newton said its location and the opportunity for women to play on Saturdays set the club apart.

In those days, women couldnt play in clubs on a Saturday (so) we had a lot of top lady golfers in the club when I played, she said.

Its the only national park in WA that has a public golf course in it.
