Homage to influential lady

The writer-in-residence is writing the first draft of With Fire in her Heart, which he hopes to see as a telemovie or docudrama.

‘Edith Cowan’s life is an inspirational story of triumph over adversity,’ he said.

‘She overcame tragic events in her childhood to become Australia’s first female parliamentarian and dedicated her life to overcoming prejudice and advancing unpopular causes.

‘Her story is an important part of WA history that deserves to be told.’

PCWC president Susan Stevens said the project was fitting, given the centre occupied Edith Cowan’s old home (on the Edith Cowan University campus) and was named after her grandson, a respected WA writer.

Todd is also running writing workshops, including writing for a youth/young adult audience this Saturday, September 21, from 10am-noon.
