Homemade guns found in vehicle stop: police

POLICE have charged two people after a vehicle stop in Girrawheen led to the alleged discovery of two loaded homemade guns.

About 10.40pm last night, police stopped a Holden Commodore with three people inside on Mereworth Way.

Police allege that during a search of the car they uncovered two loaded homemade guns, two knuckle dusters, a small amount of heroin, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.

A 28-year-old man from Perth is due to appear before Joondalup Magistrates Court on July 22 charged with two counts of possessing an unlicensed firearm/ammunition and two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon.

A 27-year-old man from Girrawheen is due to appear before Joondalup Magistrates Court on July 24 charged with two counts of possessing an unlicensed firearm/ammunition and possessing drug paraphernalia.
