‘Julie has gone through breast cancer but unfortunately the cancer has aggressively come back,’ Mr Darling said.

‘She is currently undergoing chemo and radiation but it has been suggested the best course is with a new drug that is not covered by the medical system and costs around $15,000 for one treatment.

‘Obviously when people first hear of the sad and scary news they want to help but to be honest, generally it’s fair to say there is not much you can do other than be supportive.

‘The difference here is a financial help, something that can make this hard time a bit more manageable, so we have grouped together to make it a fun event with a serious side.’

The fundraiser will be held from 4pm this Sunday at Joondalup Reception Centre on Boas Avenue and will have performances by Freddie Mercury tribute artist Thomas Crane and opera singer Fiona Mariah.

There will be auctions for skydiving, motorbike rides and fishing trips, games and raffles with canap's included and champagne on arrival.
