WA Police’s mounted section patrolled parts of Greenwood last week as part of efforts to prevent break-ins in the area.
Regan Simpson said the unit was often sent to patrol areas with high rates of burglaries.
‘Local police stations request us to do targeted patrols where there is an increase of burglaries or areas where they believe the persons of interest are living,’ he said.
‘We gather intelligence from members of the public, which we pass on (to) local inquiry teams for their investigation.
‘We also conduct traffic stops and person and vehicle checks on anyone we suspect to be suspicious in the area.’
Mounted units patrolled Scarborough and Karrinyup areas.
