He said the fire was reported about 12.15am and when Wangara fire crews attended, they required help from Joondalup, Duncraig and Osborne Park after advising the house was fully engulfed.
Crews deemed the house too dangerous at first to enter and had no choice but to fight the flames from the outside, Mr Tucker said.
A neighbour who lives opposite the house told me he was woken by a massive explosion and when he walked outside, he said he could just see a giant fire ball above the trees in his front yard.
He also told me he had heard from another neighbour that the fire had started by a visitor dropping his smoke.
He said a Department of Fire and Emergency Services chaplain also attended to help the house occupants find alternative accommodation.
