Now the Kinross couple are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

Mr and Mrs Brody, then aged 24 and 21, married on March 1, 1954.

In 1967, they migrated to Australia with their four children where they lived at Graylands Hostel before building their home in Mullaloo in 1969.

Daughter Sue Bartholomew said at that time, there were not many residential properties in the area and the only access to Mullaloo was a limestone track from Wanneroo Road.

‘We had to pay for three power poles to get the electricity connected and put down a bore for household water,’ she said.

The family soon joined the Mullaloo Surf Life Saving Club, with Mr Brody, who is a life member, taking on roles as secretary and president over the years.

The couple are still involved with the Wanneroo Anglican Church and Wanneroo Senior Citizens Club, and still ballroom dance.

The pair, who now have five grandchildren, will celebrate their diamond anniversary this Saturday with a family dinner.
