Arriving from Sydney on Friday afternoon, Hawkins said it was ‘lovely’ to be able to spend some time at City Beach before her ‘working day’ on Saturday.

‘Sometimes I fly over and have to fly back so I really loved being able to actually go to the beach yesterday, put my feet in the sand and be able to have dinner at the pub and have a mojito there and really chill out,’ she told the Times on Saturday.

Hawkins said there was an ‘excited vibe’ surrounding the opening of Myer’s first store in WA for 20 years.

‘(Myer) were really pumped to open this store,’ she said.

‘It’s one of their most important and you can sense that by the interior of the store ” it’s really well put together so I was really impressed.

‘The music’s happening and the staff are all dancing around as Santa’s little helpers and there’s lots of kids around so I definitely feel there’s some special vibe.’

She said bringing Myer to Joondalup was great for the community.

‘It just brings a lot of happiness and right before Christmas is amazing.’
