Join the pram push against postnatal depression in Banksia Grove

A PRAM push to raise awareness about postnatal depression will start at the Banksia Grove Community Centre this month.

City of Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the November 19 event coincided with Perinatal Depression and Anxiety Awareness Week.

“Becoming a new parent is both exciting and challenging but for some it can be more difficult because of anxiety and depression,” Mrs Roberts said.

“Feeling some anxiety after the birth of a baby is normal but if those ups and downs become overwhelming and affect how parents feel and function, it is important to seek help.

“The pram push event is a wonderful opportunity for the community to meet and increase awareness about postnatal depression and learn about the valuable support services available.”

She urged residents to take part in the event organised by the Banskia Grove Community Centre team with Neerabup’s Child and Parent Centre, which will host a morning tea following the pram push.

The event begins at 9.30am at the centre at 14 Grasstree Bend, Banksia Grove

Participants receive a beyondblue tote bag and information about support services.
