The nationwide event is a day of co-ordinated garage sales which aims to promote reusing and recycling goods and also provides a platform for making money or fundraising.
To promote the event, Perth-based upcycling designers Dunk n Wagnell have created a travelling artwork that spells ‘reuse’ and is made from recycled materials.
Last year, the City of Joondalup had the most garage sales of the 28 WA local governments, with 77 held. ‘Waste generation and the disposal of waste can have serious direct and indirect environmental impacts,’ Mayor Troy Pickard said.
