Joint effort helps volunteer firefighters

Wanneroo Lions Club president Mari James, Wanneroo MLA Paul Miles, Spring in the Grove president Bill McClelland and Banksia Grove community development manager Brad Goodlet presented the cheque to the Wanneroo Central Bush Fire Brigade.

Ms James said residents donated $1250 in gold-coin donations to the Lions breakfast matched by Banksia Grove Development.

"The Spring in the Grove group, who organise Banksia Grove's annual community day in November, also provided a donation as well as the Wanneroo Lions," she said.

Lieutenant Dan Petty accepted the cheque on behalf of the Bush Fire Brigade. "We are all volunteers and it is nice to know our efforts and time are recognised," Lt Petty said.

The donation will be used to help purchase a $12,000 thermal imaging camera.
