The North Coast ward councillor will take on MLA Paul Miles in next year’s State election.
Ms Winton said she wanted to improve public transport, health and education services and would push for the extension of the Mitchell Freeway to Romeo Road.
“I’ve always worked hard to improve the lives of people in my community and I’m committed to rolling up my sleeves and getting things done,” she said. “I want to be part of the solution to our biggest problems.”
Opposition leader Mark McGowan said as a teacher and resident of the Wanneroo area for more than 40 years, Ms Winton was an ideal choice.
