Labor pledges $500,000 to upgrade netball facilities at Kingsway Sporting Complex

A LABOR Government would spend half a million dollars improving netball facilities at Kingsway Sporting Complex, Opposition Leader Mark McGowan announced.

But Sports Minister Mia Davies has questioned how Labor will come up with the funds.

Girrawheen MLA Margaret Quirk, of Labor, raised the issue in Parliament last year.

Labor candidate for Wanneroo Sabine Winton said she had been working with Ms Quirk to advocate for the Wanneroo Districts Netball Association.

“Changeroom upgrades are needed and will encourage more people to engage in local sports,” she said.

Ms Winton also announced $5000 each to Hocking Netball Club and the WoolaWoolaKoolangkas Netball Club, which features local indigenous girls.

Ms Davies said Labor’s commitment did not explain how the party would fund it.

“If McGowan can’t say how he’s going to pay for it, it won’t happen,” she said.
