A LANDSDALE men’s shed is seeking donations and help to find a new home.

Northern Suburbs Men’s Shed member John Norman said the group was operating on Gnangara Road – thanks to a memorandum of understanding with the owner.

“We are fortunate that the generosity of the owner allows us to operate at our current location,” he said,

“However, these premises are advertised for lease, so if the lease was secured by another body, we would be required to vacate within four weeks, with nowhere to meet or to store our equipment and timber.”

Mr Norman said the group, which has 40 members, also sought a larger facility with more space and parking.

“The ideal situation would be to have a purpose-built place,” he said.

Members create a range of woodwork items that are often donated to community groups and schools, and are also available for purchase.

They are always seeking gifts of equipment, timber and money.

Mr Norman said the shed was about mateship and providing a social activity for retired men.

“We’re an all-round good bunch of guys,” he said.

“We cheer each other up and try to find out if we can help in any way.

“It’s a social thing; it’s worthwhile.”
