LANDSDALE Primary School will celebrate its 20th anniversary next week, with the milestone holding special significance for half a dozen staff members.

Teacher Belinda Scott said she was one of the staff members who had worked at the school since it opened in 1999, along with deputy principals Leanne White and Cass Disisto, teachers Maryanne Lewis and Kylie Marple, and library officer Sharon Murray.

“We are celebrating our 20th anniversary this year and amongst other things, we are digging up a time capsule that we buried in 1999,” Mrs Scott said.

“There are still a few staff members working at Landsdale – myself included – that remember the time capsule being buried.

“We will be digging up the time capsule on Thursday, November 21 and displaying the contents at our 20th anniversary fete on Friday, November 22.”

Mrs Scott said their best memories from the past two decades included “the 2013 revamp of the school library, making it the amazing, colourful and inviting space that it is today”.

She said other highlights included innovative programs implemented at the school, such as a one-to-one laptop program for years 4 to 6 and learning spaces, as well as the nature play space.

Mrs Scott said they were also proud of the way Anzac ceremonies had grown from year to year, and the collegial, or cooperative, relationship between staff.

Landsdale Primary School P&C will hold the 20th Anniversary Twilight Fete from 4.30-8.30pm on November 22 at The Broadview.

There will be carnival rides, a games hall, food trucks, candy bar, raffles, silent auctions, pony rides, bouncy castle, farm animals, school and community stalls plus entertainment by dance teams, the WA Institute of Martial Arts and singer Paris Sparks.
