LANDSDALE Primary School teacher Royce Puccinelli recently attended the Australian Open Grand Slam Teachers Conference.
Mr Puccinelli was one of 18 physical education teachers from around the country that Tennis Australia invited to attend the Melbourne conference from January 19 to 20.
Teachers had opportunities to network, workshop and learn more about encouraging Australian children to stay active and motivated during school hours and after school.
The group also took part in on-court sessions to develop their skills and learn ways to enhance the learning of their students.
In the past two years, the Tennis for Primary Schools program has distributed more than 50,000 racquets to school students around Australia.
Australian Fed Cup captain Alicia Molik was delighted to see the opportunities the program offered to young children around Australia.
“It’s fantastic to see so many tennis racquets in the hands of young children, which really encourages them to jump on court for the first time.”
