Last run for vehicle examination centre

According to the Department of Transport’s acting managing director of transport services Graeme Doyle, the Driver and Vehicle Services unit has started a major reform program, working on new ways of providing information and services to VEC customers.

‘The Warwick VEC site does not comply with DoT corporate objectives of providing an acceptable working environment for staff and a satisfactory level of service to the public,’ Mr Doyle said.

This will make Osborne Park the only remaining VEC north of the river, but drivers can still access vehicle examination services at Authorised Inspection Stations.

The nearest inspection stations are in Wangara and Joondalup and the department is creating five new centres in Greenwood, Wangara, Perth, Mirrabooka and Malaga (heavy vehicles only) to open by early June.

‘Vehicle examination availability at other centres will also be improved with the relocation of examiners to Osborne Park and Welshpool, increasing booking capacity at these two locations,’ Mr Doyle said.

Warwick VEC will operate until close of business on June 5.
