NOWERGUP Blues singer Rupert Guenther and his band will perform at Leapfrogs in Wanneroo this Friday, and in November and December.

Known for his electric violin sound, Guenther is part of a new wave of blues players, spanning unplugged through to blistering electric sounds from his gold top electric violin.

He spent two decades working as sideman to stars like Sir George Martin, Olivia-Newton John, Demis Roussos and John Farnham, plus projects with players from Procol Harum, Daddy Cool, Little River Band, and Frank Zappa band.

These days he is enjoying sharing his music in more intimate venues with local audiences again.

“I love sharing the real blues with local audiences,” he said.

“Everyone has grown up on pop and rock music. Well, this is where it all came from.

“Playing to fans in small venues up here is close to how the blues started actually – little venues, with a friendly crowd, and wholesome food.

“The new blues show contains a lot of the slower and smoother side of the history of the blues – soulful and strong but quiet. It’s relaxing.”

The Rupert Guenther Blues Band will play at Leapfrogs on October 28, November 25 and December 23.
