Lenore roadworks to resume after asbestos scare

Staff ReporterWanneroo Times

Wanneroo Mayor Tracey Roberts said the road safety upgrade was designed to cater for increased traffic from the City’s new subdivisions.

‘The realignment of Lenore Road will intersect with Ocean Reef Road at Hartman Drive, with the existing Ocean Reef Road/Hartman Drive intersection upgraded to accommodate a four-way traffic signal controlled intersection,’ she said.

She said the existing junction at Lenore and Ocean Reef roads was dangerous, and was currently ranked seventh worst in the City and 142nd in WA, with an estimated cost to the community of more than $10 million.

‘The works will involve the deviation of Lenore Road north of Kemp Street to join the signalised intersection at Ocean Reef Road,’ she said.

The upgrade is expected to be completed by early 2014.
