Duncraig man fined for breaching the Motorvehicle Dealers Act

The warning comes after a Duncraig man was fined for selling vehicles online without the appropriate authority.

Robert John Broadway faced Joondalup Magistrates Court on October 31 after it was discovered he bought vehicles from auction houses and then re-sold them on Gumtree.

He was fined $2500 and ordered to pay $779 court costs.

Magistrate Edward De Vries emphasised car owners were allowed to sell their vehicles on Gumtree without a licence.| However, he said that Broadway had gone beyond what was allowed under the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act.

He said he was competing against licensed used car dealers and undermining their business.
