Would you like parcels with that? Australia Post trials drive-thru parcel collection

Staff WriterWanneroo Times

AUSTRALIA Post is trialling drive-thru parcel collections to help make Christmas deliveries easier than ever this year.

From now until December 23, Perth residents can choose to collect their parcels via the drive-thru parcel collection point at Clarkson Shopping Centre.

The trial comes as Australia Post is expecting its busiest Christmas period ever, delivering more than 2.5 million parcels a day at its peak.

Australia Post Western Australia State Manager, Rob Fell said if the trial was successful, Australia would consider introducing drive-thru parcel collections permanently.

“We’ll be gauging the level of customer interest over peak, to see if this solution could be useful as an ongoing option,” Mr Fell said.

“Australia Post is committed to improving the way we deliver to make it as easy as possible for customers to receive parcels when and where it’s convenient for them. The Perth drive-thru parcel collection is just one of the trials we be running across Australia over the busy Christmas period.”

If a customer is not at home when a parcel is delivered, they will receive a card giving them the option of collecting their parcel at the drive-through kiosk at Clarkson, which is open 5-7.30pm Monday to Friday.
