TOM Kaczor could eat his way out of Craigie and onto the national scene, according to one of Australia’s most competitive eaters.

That’s right – Tom’s forte is eating… and eating big.

Victorian Riley Murphy’s confidence and experience in the craft of fast-past eating is such that he is known by his own brand Chompamatic and travels the country taking on oversized eating challenges.

But Chomp proved no match for the hometown hero today when the two faced off in an East v West challenge at Northbridge Brewing Company – and he was full of praise for the local conqueror afterwards.

The challenge was to eat the brewery’s ‘jacked-up double Angus burger’ plus a plate of pork ribs, chips and onion rings. Oh, and a side salad.

Chompamatic looked every bit a title-fight contender when he sat down at the table – right down to his team T-shirt and pumped-up music playing through his headphones.

Tom was more reserved, both in personality and eating technique, but 17 minutes later it was his plate that had been virtually licked clean.

“Do you want some help?” was Tom’s first offering in Chompamatic’s direction after knocking off every last bite of his own burger, ribs and sides.

Thursday’s win adds to the legend that the Craigie resident is compiling in WA.

He earned his spot at the table after being fastest through the jacked-up burger at last year’s NBC Man v Food event.

Legend has it he knocked off the burger so quickly that while waiting for a friend to do likewise, he decided to follow-up with a man-sized pulled pork slider – and set the fastest time in that challenge too.
