THE City of Wanneroo launched its first early childhood policy last month.

The strategy, endorsed by the council earlier this year, is a three-year plan that aims to support children in their first eight years of life.

‘Children aged up to eight make up almost 15 per cent of the City’s population,’ Mayor Tracey Roberts said.

‘Recent Australian early development census results indicated that 23.7 per cent of children tested in the City were assessed as being developmentally vulnerable.’

She said the strategy would complement and support existing programs and activities such as the It’s All About Play, It’s All About Parenting, Rhyme Time and Story Time programs.
