Lost locks fetch thousands for cancer cause

Pupils, staff, parents, friends and fellow parishioners from St Anselm’s Anglican Church in Kingsley-Woodvale saw her 1m-long locks fall to the floor.

Inspired by people she knows with leukaemia and lymphoma, Mandy has already raised more than $11,000, surpassing her $10,000 target.

‘It is something I have thought of doing over the last couple of years,’ she said.

‘This year seemed the right time with some recent diagnoses (among children and adults in my life).

‘Another teacher on staff also shaved on the day and an ex-student shaved at her high school at the same time.

‘It was a very positive experience, with students learning a little more about the Leukaemia Foundation.

‘As fundraising does not close until the end of May, I hope my total will continue to climb.’
