‘Lost’ super can yield easy money

In Joondalup and Wanneroo alone, there is almost $200 million unaccounted for across 25,873 accounts.

The amount lost by people who live in the 6027 postcode � which covers Beldon, Connolly, Edgewater, Heathridge, Joondalup, Mullaloo and Ocean Reef � is almost $30 million.

This makes an average of $8219 per lost account, one of the highest across WA. These details are contained in Westpac�s 2015 Lost Super Report, along with a comparison as to the amount people generate through holding a garage sale or selling unwanted items online.

Superannuation accounts could be considered lost if no money has been added for 12 months and your fund does not have your current address, or if the balance has not been added to for five years.
