Love stands the test of time, and many miles

The Scottish lass and her Aussie soldier married in Dumfries on June 3, 1943.

Jean (92) sailed to WA as a war bride, arriving on December 21, 1944 after a six-week voyage around the Cape of Good Hope.

After discharge from the army in October 1945, Dwellingup-born Jack (97) joined the WA police, serving for more than 30 years.

They lived in the same Floreat house for 40 years before moving to St Ives Northshore 16 years ago.

The couple raised four children and have 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who are regular visitors.

‘Both enjoy remarkable good health and are looking forward to a family (70th wedding anniversary) celebration on June 3,’ daughter Glenda Hollingsworth said.
