‘I was shocked when I got the phone call, at first I thought someone was trying to sell me something,’ Mrs Lee said.
As one of two lucky competition winners, Mrs Lee and her young family will soon have installed a $5500 solar water heater, which will provide energy-efficient hot water all year long.
Still on maternity leave, Mrs Lee said every little bit helped, but saving money was not the only reason she was happy to win the competition.
‘It’s also a different way we can be a little more environmentally friendly,’ she said.
‘My eldest daughter Jasmine (5) learns about recycling at school, so it’s good to teach the kids to think environmentally.’
Solahart WA state manager John Mortimer said the recent increase in energy costs had made local residents more aware of the solar options open to them..
‘We are thrilled to help the Lee family make the switch and we’re sure they will enjoy many years of savings on their energy bills,’ he said.
