Madeley: WA Police charge four people following shooting at shopping centre

MIRRABOOKA Detectives have charged four people following a shooting incident in Madeley last night.

A WA Police spokeswoman said a Bertram man (36) and a Marangaroo man (32) would face court today in relation to the incident at Kingsway City Shopping Centre, which occurred about 9.40pm on April 7.

She said investigations were continuing into the incident and another two people would be summonsed to court on drug-related charges at a later date.

“The ‪occupants of two vehicles met in the car park of a shopping centre located on Hepburn Avenue,” she said.‬

‪“It is alleged that an occupant in one vehicle fired a single shot at the other vehicle before both vehicles left the area.‬

“Detectives were able to stop one vehicle on Hepburn Avenue in Marangaroo and the five occupants were taken into custody.

“During a search of the vehicle it is alleged police located and seized approximately 10 grams of methylamphetamine.

“Another vehicle was stopped on Girrawheen Avenue in Girrawheen and two occupants were taken into custody.

“Further inquiries resulted in police executing search warrants on two homes in Marangaroo.

“The investigation is ongoing and inquiries are continuing. At this time, four people have been charged.”

The Bertram man is due to face Perth Magistrates Court today on charges of not having authority to drive, giving false particulars and an arrest warrant.

The Marangaroo man will face Joondalup Magistrates Court on charges of going armed to cause fear and drug possession.

A Bertram woman (18) and a Tuart Hill man (27) will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date on drug related offences.

According to police, noone one was injured during the shooting.
