Staff WriterWanneroo Times

EARLY works on the Wanneroo Road and Joondalup Drive interchange are due to start this Friday.

Main Roads WA has advised motorists that it will start a two-month potholing program to locate underground services on September 14, before major works start.

It will include night works from September 19, but those are not expected to take longer than two weeks.

Main Roads advised that the works on verges and median strips will start at the eastern end of the project area on Joondalup Drive, shifting west.

Day works will include a reduced speed limit between 7am and 7pm and intermittent lane closures.

Night works will involve reduced speed limits between 7pm and 5am, with lane closures 100m from the intersection on Wanneroo Road northbound and within 200m on the other three roads.

A Main Roads alert said a vacuum truck, 4WD truck, light vehicles and a truck mounted attenuator would be used for the works.

“The noise generated from the night works will be minimal and should not impact upon neighbouring residents,” it said.

“To minimise disturbance to residents as far as possible, an out-of-hours noise management plan has been prepared by CPB Contractors and will be approved by the City of Wanneroo and City of Joondalup before any works commence.”
