Man charged with posting explicit photos of ex-girlfriend

Police have charged the 25-year-old man with stalking and five counts of using a carrier service to menace for offences between April 1 and July 1.

Warwick Senior Sergeant Brad Burnett alleged the man created a false Facebook page using a false email address and made the pictures public.

‘He started the false Facebook profile in a man’s name and uploaded photos and comments about the woman that could be viewed publically,’ he said.

‘The photos were personal and sexually explicit.

‘He used the false Facebook account to allow her friends, family and associates to view them.

‘The allegation is the account was reported but extra accounts were opened.’

He warned of the consequences for using online services as a form of harassment.

‘It’s an area that’s growing,’ he said.

‘We treat it seriously and the courts treat it seriously.’

The accused was charged on July 3 and is expected to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on Friday.
