RSPCA officers allege the 51-year-old pet owner had allowed the shih-tzu maltese cross dogs ” Buddy and Tess ” to suffer after he was admitted to hospital in May, 2012.
The animals were found to be underweight and suffering from rotten teeth.
Tess was diagnosed with mammary tumours, while Buddy had a severe ear infection. It is alleged the accused had known about their poor health, but failed to take them to a vet. The dogs were euthanased after a lengthy vet examination.
The accused appeared in court on June 28 and will reappear on August 9.
