Marangaroo great-great-grandmother celebrates 105th birthday

ITALIAN Aged Care’s oldest resident Sabbia Tilli is celebrating her 105th birthday today.

The Marangaroo great-great-grandmother was born on July 12, 1913 in Italy and was the youngest of Albina and Michele Di Giuseppe’s four children.

She married Pepino Tilli in 1931 and they had five children – Paolo, Nicoletta, Antonio, Michele and Pietro.

Their oldest son, Paolo, moved to Australia in 1952, followed by Pepino and Antonio in 1955 and then the rest of the family in 1957.

The couple settled in Queens Park and Sabbia devoted her life to looking after her home, garden, husband, children and grandchildren.

Mrs Tilli was renowned in the family for her cooking, particularly ‘S’ biscuits, pikelets, pizzelli, pizza, pasta and roast chicken.

She has 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

The devout Catholic moved to the Villa Terenzio facility at Italian Aged Care in 2003 and is now its oldest resident.
