Marangaroo man facing drug and weapons charges

WANNEROO Police have charged a man with drug and weapons offences following a vehicle stop in Wanneroo on yesterday.

About 9.30am , officers stopped a Nissan utility for a random breath test on Caporn Street.

Police allege that the driver, a 36-year-old Marangaroo man, did not have a drivers licence and impounded his vehicle for 28 days.

During a search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located and seized a loaded pen-style firearm, cash and drugs.

They later searched his Marangaroo house with the assistance of a drug detection dog and found a quantity of drugs and smoking implements.

Police have charged the man with having no authority to drive and five counts of drug possession.

Other charges include possessing drug paraphernalia, unlawfully obtained property (cash), an unlicensed firearm carried with drugs and cash, unlicensed ammunition on two counts and a prohibited weapon.

He is due to appear in the Joondalup Magistrates Court on October 26.
