She said the most outstanding performances came from Amanda Lee (over-40s) winning five gold, one silver and one bronze and ironwoman Kay Smith (over-60s) winning two gold and five silver.

‘Looks like this year the ladies had it over the gents for Mullaloo,’ Ms Clarke said.

Sorrento business and marketing director Christine Cougan said the club’s large contingent of competitors had many successes, both individually and in the team events.

‘Competition was fierce but competitive and because of regular training and increased numbers at Sorrento SLSC the results were fantastic,’ she said.

The club finished the day with 18 gold, 26 silver and 19 bronze medals.

The championships were held at Fremantle SLSC.
