102-year-old Olga Fusco, who celebrated her birthday yesterday, and great-grand-daughter Chloe share a special moment.

But the milestone came without the sought-after acknowledgment of another more high-profile matriarch.

‘Due to us not being able to provide a copy of her original birth certificate ” we have an extract written in Italian ” she was unable to receive a letter from the Queen,’ granddaughter Tina Fusco said.

‘A shame and I still think she deserves to be recognised and celebrated.’

Olga, who celebrated yesterday with family at her Italian Aged Care home, came to Australia from Italy in 1950 and lived in Morley for 60 years before moving to Marangaroo in 2011.

‘She is an amazing woman who is mentally aware and alert, unfortunately her body is 102 years old and today has a number of aches and pains, and is a little hard of hearing,’ Tina said.

‘Olga, the matriarch of the Fusco family, has a wonderful, traditional Italian philosophy that family is everything’
