Mental health help makes a move

Edith Cowan University’s Psychological Services Centre moved from its Joondalup premises to the new ECU Health Centre in Dundebar Road yesterday.

Wanneroo MLA Paul Miles inspected the facility with ECU pro vice-chancellor (health advancement) Professor Cobie Rudd last week before the move.

‘This service will offer counselling, therapy and assessment services in a safe and caring environment to people in the Wanneroo area needing help for a range of common psychological issues,’ Mr Miles said.

The health centre will also house the Wanneroo GP Super Clinic, staffed initially by five full-time equivalent medical practitioners with more doctors as demand grows.

The GP and psychological services will open to the public on Tuesday, September 30.

Professor Rudd said ECU and State and Federal government grants had made the facility possible. ‘Not only will this centre be paramount in improving the health and well-being of Wanneroo residents, it will also provide exemplary training and research opportunities for students and staff,’ she said.
