GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health nurses, occupational therapists and social and community workers meet regularly to share their expertise and ideas, and expand their mental health referral networks.
Formed in April 2010, the not-for-profit network is one of 450 nationally funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing.
‘It is a free group designed to promote a multi-disciplinary approach to care for mental health consumers,’ Joondalup volunteer co-ordinator Sue Miller said. ‘It is a fantastic resource but more people need to know about it.’
About 25 people attended a network-hosted meeting at Joondalup Health Campus recently to hear about the Australian Medicare Local Alliance.
