THE Metro North-West Development Assessment Panel approved plans for a $3 million double-storey medical centre and office development in Ashby on Monday.

The approval for 14 Blackberry Way came with several conditions, including restricting the number of health consultants practising at any one time to 10.

Ben Doyle from Planning Solutions, which submitted the application on behalf of landowner Endeavour Properties, said there had been a lot of applications for the Ashby site, including residential units.

“There’s about to be some construction soon,” he said.

Although the original application was for a 24-7 medical centre, Mr Doyle said the applicant had no objection to a condition to restrict operating hours to 7am to 10pm, including public holidays.

“There’s not a tenant signed up at present,” he said.

Plans for the 4116sq m site include 10 consulting rooms on the ground floor medical centre, office space upstairs and 65 parking bays.

Wanneroo councillor Frank Cvitan moved the recommendation to approve it, saying he liked the look of the development.

“It looks pretty architecturally sound and modern,” he said.
