Lucas da PazWanneroo Times

LATE night commuters to the northern suburbs face five nights of freeway shutdowns starting from Sunday.

Sections of the Mitchell Freeway northbound will be closed across all lanes from 10pm to 5am, with ramps closed from 8pm, to allow for minor maintenance works.

– Sunday night/Monday morning – Hutton Street to Karrinyup Road.

– Monday night/Tuesday morning – Karrinyup Road to Warwick Road

– Tuesday night/Wednesday morning – Warwick to Whitfords, including Hepburn Avenue.

– Thursday night/Friday morning and Friday night/Saturday morning – Whitfords Avenue to Hodges Drive.

A Main Roads spokeswoman said workers will be replacing street light globes, pruning trees and vegetation, inspecting and replacing signs and removing litter.

“Programming five consecutive nights is also the most efficient method for labour and equipment resourcing,” she said.

“Previously, each individual work activity would have been conducted under lane closures on different nights, meaning nearby residents and road users would experience disturbances over many nights.”

She urged travellers to keep up to date by following Main Roads on Twitter @Perth_Traffic or visit their Travel Maps at https://travelmap.mainroads.wa.gov.au/
