‘Most (PSDs) work in range of a cordless phone but there’s nothing to allow for mobile seniors if they leave the range of the cordless phone,’ Jose Stracke said.
‘This device works anywhere in the world where there is a mobile phone signal.
‘It takes a sim card and can be remotely accessed by friends, relatives or anyone who wishes to be aware of where the senior is or get in touch with them.’

READ NOWShe said the Mobile Alert, which allows for two-way communication, had three buttons.
‘The larger button is SOS and when pressed, it contacts up to five numbers and sends a text message of their GPS location,’ Mrs Stracke said.
‘When one person answers, it stops calling the others.’
She said the other two buttons were programmed to call one person each, but it could receive phone calls from anyone.
Mrs Stracke said the device was normally $249, but WA Seniors Card holders could buy them for $200 and also apply for the State Government rebate of the same amount, essentially getting the Mobile Alert free.
