More violence-related charges laid after Girrawheen party

Police last week charged two men in relation to the February 19 party but emphasised the offences, while happening late on the same night, were separate to the death of Kuol Akut.

A 22-year-old Balga man is accused of arming himself with a brick paver as he moved through a crowd that had gathered on Hainsworth Avenue and Meakers Way after the party.

He has been charged with being armed in a way to cause fear and is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on April 13.

Officers also charged a 16-year-old Balga boy with assaulting a teenager with a piece of wood on Hainsworth Avenue.

He was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and is due to face Joondalup Children’s Court on April 19.

The teenager was the second male to be charged over the assault, with police charging another 16-year-old early last month.

Two male youths have been charged with murder over the death of Kuol Akut, who suffered fatal injuries after an item was allegedly thrown at him from close range after the party.
