MP takes politics back to classrooms

Staff WriterWanneroo Times

WANNEROO MLA Sabine Winton took politics back to school this year, introducing a democracy challenge for primary school students in her electorate.

The former teacher created the challenge to encourage students to learn about democracy and to support local schools in their civics and citizenship programs.

Ms Winton planned to host the winners and their parents to lunch at Parliament House, with each participating school receiving a $200 donation to use in its programs.

“Local schools are doing a fantastic job with their civics and citizenship programs,” she said.
