A LAKEFRONT housing development set to accommodate 500 people is due to launch next month.

Satterley Property Group plans to launch Myella estate on a 9.3ha site on the northern banks of Lake Joondalup in March.

Chief executive Nigel Satterley said it would be a residential development with 197 lots, including two-storey terrace homes and larger traditional lots, and have two public open spaces.

Mr Satterley said, subject to approvals, lot sales would start in March and clearing, earthworks and subdivision would start in April.

The estate on Drovers Place in Wanneroo is being promoted online as a neighbourhood for people who love being surrounded by nature, close to the Joondalup city centre, schools and the Drovers shopping precinct.

The site off Joondalup Drive is adjacent to the Joondalup Fire Station and Regents Garden retirement village as well as Yellagonga Regional Park.

Wanneroo Council supported plans to rezone the land in 2018, when a report said the development would generate an extra 1800 vehicle movements a day on Drovers Place.

Since then, access to Drovers Place has been changed to a left-in, left-out junction as a result of the interchange construction at Wanneroo Road-Joondalup Drive.
