New lease of life for old site

LandCorp has appointed developer Perth Property Net and residential care provider Brightwater to develop the innovative supported independent living facility on 4477sq m of the old Craigie High School site.

Chief executive Frank Marra said the project for young people with different levels of need would help fill a gap.

‘While there are a wealth of living options of this type for older people, there is very little available for young adults,’ he said.

‘This leaves many with no choice but to live in accommodation for the elderly or remain at home with their parents or carers.

‘Our vision is to create an affordable group housing facility integrated into a central location, which will provide young adults with varying levels of independence and a suitable place to live.’

LandCorp called for expressions of interest in the project last year. The Vive, which will be home to 400 people, is a 10ha estate bounded by Camberwarra Drive, Fenellia Crescent and Arawa Place.
