New policy for Wanneroo’s Community History Centre

THE City of Wanneroo has made changes to the policy for its Community History Centre.

Established in 2009 at the Wanneroo Regional Museum, the centre boasts a collection of books, photos, maps, newspapers and oral history interviews about the region’s heritage.

The 2016 Community History Centre Collection Policy includes expanding its objective to provide a framework for management of the centre, its service and resources, clarifying stakeholders’ roles and responsibilities and ensuring consistent management procedures.

It has also added the Heritage Services Advisory Group as a stakeholder to be consulted and guidelines for staff and financial implications.

“The City of Wanneroo recognises the importance of storing, conserving and protecting material in the Community History Centre so that it may be preserved for posterity,” the policy said.

The policy will be re-evaluated every two years.
