Recycle Right, from the WA Local Government Association (WALGA) and the Waste Authority, also aims to increase awareness of items that can and cannot be recycled.
Mayor Troy Pickard said introducing yellow-lidded bins had improved the City of Joondalup’s rate of recycling but a few simple changes could see more improvements.
‘City households recycled or reused 48 per cent of waste generated in 2012-13, compared with the 2007-08 figure of only 14 per cent,’ he said.
