The works will join those to be sold at the Decorate A Duck For Depression Auction at Houghton's Winery on May 31.

Masters, who was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder some years ago, said she needed about 30 people to help her achieve her target.

Her illness saw the end of her professional career of 20 years and by chance took her life in a new direction when she was introduced to mosaics by an art therapist at Joondalup Hospital.

Masters said she was already finding helpers in well-known artists, hobbyists and friends willing to support the project.

"There is a real need in the community to provide access to psychiatric care, particularly when someone is suffering from depression," she said.

All of the funds raised from the auction will go to The Claassen Institute of Psychiatry For Medical Students from UWA.

Helpers who would like to decorate a duck can paint them, mosaic or dress them in any way they wish.
